1 BLACKPINK Coachella Program
On April 15, 2023, BLACKPINK began their first performance on the Coachella stage, and they drew the audience’s enthusiasm with a flashy lighting graphic show that lasted more than five minutes. 2.1 Obviously They Are The Queens
Personally, I liked the songs that focused on the performance of the first half of the stage. However, the songs that focused more on singing skills in the second half were very impressive. In particular, “Shutdown” was the best. It definitely was a song optimized for live performance, and it highlighted the members’ singing skills.
In my experience and feelings, BLACKPINK’s stage preparation was very tight, and the members were tired, but nevertheless, the members helped each other and did their best. When Rosé was exhausted, it was very touching to see Jenny, who had been careful on stage due to an ankle injury, supporting her. On the solo stage, Jenny was much more intense and performance-oriented than her previous solo activities. Ji-Soo also released a new song “Flower“, so she seemed to have prepared a lot compared to her physical strength. Lisa also led the stage with her excellent live performance like always.
The members are known as muses of luxury fashion-jewelry brands, so they always keep them slim. So I thought it would be better if the members had some time to rest and raise their stamina. The members looked tired, but still the performance was amazing.
2.2 Fell In Love With Korean Beauty
On BLACKPINK’s Coachella stage, they tend to highlighted some parts about Korea. The members’ costumes perfectly combine YG Entertainment’s unique style with Korea’s unique beauty. The pink-based costumes caught the attention of the audience with their luxurious yet original designs. At the beginning of the stage, there was a beautiful design of Dan-cheong in the background of the stage that symbolized the traditional architectural beauty of Korea. It was also very touching as a Korean to see them greet and introduce the stage in Korean.
2.3 Unforgettable Eye-Contact Moment With BLACKPINK (feat. lightstick)
The most touching thing was that BLACKPINK looked at me holding the light stick. Holding a light stick on BLACKPINK’s Coachella stage, I cheered for the members and prepared to share my emotions. But something unexpected happened. I saw BLACKPINK members paying attention to the light stick and my existence. At that moment, I had a connection with the members and I felt like I became a special person.
BLACKPINK values communication with fans on stage, and I believe one of the secrets of their success is to build strong ties with fans. What I recognized when they saw my light stick was probably love and appreciation for the fans. At that moment, I could realize BLACKPINK’s passion and love for music and strong connection with fans.
